A year of service for bargaining unit members shall consist of at least one day more than one half of the number of days required for the normal contractual period of service for the position held during the contract year provided however:

1. that such service shall include leave for which compensation was received;
2. subject to the collective bargaining agreement, absence from duty after the date of beginning of service must be duly authorized;
3. only one year of service may be recognized within one contractual year;
4. sabbatical shall be applicable towards years of service credit; and
5. work performed on an overload basis shall not be counted for full-time actual service credit.
