Palm Beach State College Board Procedure
Title: Procedure for Performance Appraisals

This procedure aims to maximize employee potential by evaluating and recognizing their
performance, accountability, and job knowledge, while setting clear objectives and
ensuring they are achieved within established timelines.
Pending appraisals will be canceled for employees who are no longer employed with
the College. The dates specified in this procedure are subject to change to the following
business day if they fall on a weekend or a college closure.
Regular Non-Bargaining Unit Employees
The annual performance appraisal period for regular non-bargaining unit employees
is from July 1 to June 30. The appraisal must be completed on or before August 31.
For appraisal details, refer to the Staff Performance Appraisal Manual.
The following outlines the appraisal completion dates:
- Employees complete their self-assessment between May 1 and June 30. On the first business day after June 30, the completed or blank self-assessments will automatically advance to managers for their review and completion.
- Managers must complete the appraisal on or before August 31. Completion refers to managers acknowledging in the system that they met with their employees.
Bargaining Unit Members
Instructional faculty and librarians undergoing the continuing contract process do not receive a performance appraisal, as they follow the guidelines outlined in the Continuing Contract Manual. All other bargaining unit members are subject to the following procedures:
1. Instructional Faculty
The annual performance appraisal period for instructional faculty is from August 16
to the end of the spring semester. The appraisal must be completed on or before May
31. For appraisal details, refer to the relevant performance appraisal guidelines.
The following outlines the appraisal completion dates:
- Employees complete their self-assessment between February 1 and March 31. On the first business day of April, the completed or blank self-assessments will automatically advance to managers for their review and completion.
- Managers must complete the appraisal on or before May 31. Completion refers to managers acknowledging in the system that they met with their employees.
2. CCP Instructors and Librarians
The annual performance appraisal period for regular CCP Instructors and Librarians
is from July 1 to June 30. The appraisal must be completed on or before June 30. For
appraisal details, refer to the relevant performance appraisal guidelines.
The following outlines the appraisal completion dates:
- Employees complete their self-assessment between March 1 and April 30. On the first business day of May, the completed or blank self-assessments will automatically advance to managers for their review and completion.
- Managers must complete the appraisal on or before June 30. Completion refers to managers
acknowledging in the system that they met with their employees.
