Public Notice of Proposed Course and User Fee Adjustment

Posted: Dec. 15, 2021

The Palm Beach State College District Board of Trustees will be considering course and user fee adjustments at its next regularly scheduled meeting on January 18, 2022 at 4:00 PM.

The cost of consumables (materials), hazardous waste removal, software licenses and replacing broken tools have increased during the last few years. In a cost inventory performed by our lab tech evaluator in 2016, it was decided that an increase was necessary for these fees. As an example, in hazardous waste removal, we went from $2,600 to almost $6,000 a year. We have increased the amount of students and cohorts but the cost of these have also increased.

This change affects the courses listed below:

  1. Diesel Maintenance Service Technician (DIM0155): Revised course in inventory (previously Diesel Maintenance Service Technician 2). The new $55.00 fee covers consumable lab supplies ($25), hazardous waste removal ($15), software licenses ($10) and worn hand tool replacement ($5).
  2. Fundamentals of Automotive Services (AER0014): Revised course in inventory (previously Introduction to Automotive Services). The fee increase from $30.00 to $55.00 covers consumable lab supplies ($25 was $15), hazardous waste removal ($15 was $2), software licenses ($10 was $7) and worn hand tool replacement ($5 was $6).
  3. Electrical and Electronics 2 (AER0608C): Revised course in inventory (previously Automotive Electrical and Electronics 2 - AER0692). The fee increase from $30.00 to $55.00 covers consumable lab supplies ($25 was $15), hazardous waste removal ($15 was $2), software licenses ($10 was $7) and worn hand tool replacement ($5 was $6).
  4. Engine Repair (AER0199C): Revised course in inventory (previously AER0199): The fee increase from $30.00 to $55.00 covers consumable lab supplies ($25 was $15), hazardous waste removal ($15 was $2), software licenses ($10 was $7) and worn hand tool replacement ($5 was $6).
  5. Steering, Suspension and Alignment (AER0453C): Revised course in inventory (previously Automotive Steering and Suspension - AER0499): The fee increase from $30.00 to $55.00 covers consumable lab supplies ($25 was $15), hazardous waste removal ($15 was $2), software licenses ($10 was $7) and worn hand tool replacement ($5 was $6).
