Foster Care & Homelessness Support
College is not just a place of education but also a sanctuary of support. We understand
that housing insecurities and homelessness can present significant challenges, but
know that you are not alone. PBSC is committed to ensuring your success and providing
resources and assistance to help you navigate these difficult times. From emergency
housing options to financial aid and counseling services, our campus community is
here to support you every step of the way.
Resources
Palm Beach State College is dedicated to empowering students to reach their full potential, regardless of their circumstances. We offer a comprehensive range of student services to support your journey toward success and realizing your dreams.
- In-person and virtual tutoring services are available through our Student Learning Center (SLC).
- There is always something going on around campus. The College's event calendar shows upcoming events, and our Student Life website has information on clubs and organizations.
- A variety of Student Services are available, including Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Military & Veteran's Services, Admissions, and the Testing Center.
- Other important PBSC resources include:
- AOK Scholars - A program, created by Lawrence E. White Family Foundation, is specifically support
students who have aged out of foster care, and later expanded to include those students
experiencing homelessness.
Students Experiencing Homelessness
Students experiencing homelessness as defined by section 1009.25, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and Rule 6A-10.087, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.C) and are eligible for an exemption of the payment of tuition and fees can fill out an electronic waiver available on Workday.
- Students should log into Workday, and click on Finances.
- Under Requests, click on Create Request.
- Under Request Type, click "All." Scroll to the bottom and click "Waiver - Homelessness Tuition & Fee" and then click OK.
- You will then be directed to a page titled “Waiver – Transitional Living Program,” where you will fill out and upload documents.
- Please do not forget: You must upload documentation of support for your request from an outside organization
that is assisting you with housing stabilization. They must be able to verify your
status.
